Inquest into the Death of Ahmadu Ahmed

Mr. Ahmed, 22, died in Burlington on September 22, 2018, following an exchange of gunshots involving officers of the Halton Regional Police Service. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Ahmed’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

The inquest is expected to last 17 days and hear from approximately 22 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Bonnie Goldberg will be the presiding officer. Roger Shallow and Richard Garwood-Jones will be inquest counsel.
