Motion Hearing in regards to the Pending Inquest into the Death of Samuel Maloney
Dr. Elizabeth Urbantke, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, London Office, announced today that a motion will be heard related to the pending inquest into the death of Samuel Maloney.
Mr. Maloney, 35, died on December 23, 2016, after being shot by officers of the London Police Service. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The motion hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 29, 2023, with parties making their submissions remotely.
Dr. David Eden, presiding officer for the inquest, will preside at the motion hearing. Roger Shallow and Elizabeth Brown will be inquest counsel.

The Presiding Officer has directed that the web streaming of this inquest not be recorded in accordance with the Chief Coroner’s rules of procedure and out of respect to the family of the deceased.
