Inquest into the deaths of Judy Booth, Bruce Thomlinson and Anthonia Van Beek

Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, Regional Supervising Coroner, East Region, Ottawa Office, has announced that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the deaths of Judy Booth, Bruce Thomlinson and Anthonia Van Beek. The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Dr. McNaughton-Filion will be the presiding officer. Peter Napier and Alessandra Hollands will be the inquest counsel.

Ms. Booth, 57 years old; Mr. Thomlinson, 56 years old; and Ms. Van Beek, 65 years old, died on January 11, 2019, following injuries sustained when a public transit bus crashed at an Ottawa transit station.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding their deaths. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

The inquest is expected to last 21 days and hear from approximately 15 witnesses.
