Inquest into the Death of Samuel Maloney
Mr. Maloney, 35, died on December 23, 2016, after an interaction with officers from the London Police Service. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Maloney’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
The inquest is expected to last 15 days and hear from approximately 11 witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025. Dr. David Eden will be the presiding officer. Elizabeth Brown and Roger Shallow will be the inquest counsel.

The Presiding Officer has directed that no person shall make any recording or take photos or screen captures of the Inquest from either the video conference or the live stream of the Inquest over the internet. For greater clarity, no person shall copy, record, screenshot, photograph, publish or broadcast the Inquest or any portion of it, or otherwise disseminate such a record, including through messaging applications, on social media platforms, other internet sites, and/or other methods of instant communication.
