Inquest into the Death of Ozama Shaw
Mr. Shaw, 15, died in hospital on August 26, 2017, after being shot by a Peel Regional Police officer in Mississauga. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Shaw’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
The inquest is expected to last 8 days and hear from approximately 14 witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Bonnie Goldberg will be the presiding officer and Julian Roy will be inquest counsel.
