Inquest into the Death of O’Neil Singh Ramnath
Mr. Ramnath, 41, died on December 26, 2016, while in custody at the Toronto East Detention Centre. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Ramnath’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
The inquest is expected to last four days and hear from approximately three witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024. Selwyn Pieters will be the presiding officer and Jason Balgopal will be inquest counsel.
