Inquest into the Death of Harrison Iris
Mr. Iris, 18 years old, died in hospital on February 11, 2021, while in the custody of officers from the Peel Regional Police. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Iris’ death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
The inquest is expected to last eight days and hear from approximately 10 witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024. Dr. Richard McLean will be the presiding officer and Phil Tsui will be the inquest counsel.

The Presiding Officer has directed that no person shall make any recording or take photos or screen captures of the Inquest from either the video conference or the live stream of the Inquest over the internet.
