Inquest into the Death of David Thomson

Mr. Thomson, 33, died in Brantford, on November 3, 2019, while inside a hotel room as Hamilton Police officers attempted to negotiate his surrender into custody in connection with charges in Hamilton. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Thomson’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and hear from approximately six witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024. Selwyn Pieters will be the presiding officer. Maria Stevens and Shruti Ramesh will be the inquest counsel.
