The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025. Murray Segal will be the presiding officer and Philip Tsui will be the inquest counsel.
Mr. Bowley, 23 years old, died on January 18, 2018, while in custody at the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Bowley’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
The inquest is expected to last ten days and hear from approximately 20 witnesses.
