Inquest into the Death of Beau Aaron Baker
Mr. Baker, 20, died in hospital on April 2, 2015, from injuries sustained when he was shot by an officer of the Waterloo Regional Police Service. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Baker’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths from occurring in similar circumstances.
The inquest is expected to last two weeks and hear from approximately 16 witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023. Dr. David Eden will be the presiding officer and Julian Roy will be inquest counsel.
